SELF LOVE – Life Changing Tip Worth Investing Into Yourself

We are in unusual times in the world right now and it can feel really hard to stay focused and do it in a way where you don’t leave yourself feeling exhausted and debilitated from the pressures of the world and our general lives.

When we become dysfunctional in our approach it prevents us from feeling fulfilled and derails us from our purpose in life. This can feel really devastating and crushing.

This weeks blog is about how we can cut out the noise in life whilst staying grounded and balanced in ourselves and our paths.

How You Start Your Day Is Key

Start your day by connecting to yourself and all things living.

Most people wake up to the sound of their alarm clock as they roll out of bed feeling like they had only 3 hours sleep. They stumble to the shower and start their day getting ready for work possibly in a rush, and will use coffee as their 'get me in the mood’ for their day. I love a nice coffee but I don’t use it to help me get through my day. I learnt a long time ago that the perpetual cycle of waking up and starting my day like this, was setting me up for failure when I had big plans to live a much more fulfilling life.

If you want to feel on top of your game (feeling centred, connected and ready to take on the day) it’s all about how you start your day. We are all different in how we would approach this. Some people will maximise their mornings by doing a work out or walking on the beach whilst others will focus on tasks that require a lot more brain focus like top priority tasks on their business list.

But there is one thing that we can all do to take us from stumbling shakiness to grounded and strong, and that is starting your day connecting to yourself and all things living.

How To Do This

This is more a ‘being’ than a ‘doing’ but we must set some time first thing in the morning to make it happen and know how to get into this state of being. So step one is easy.


Step 1. Schedule ‘You Time’ first thing in the morning. 30 minutes if you can, is perfect.

We want to use this time to really connect in with ourselves and by creating a calming space where you can do this is ideal. This might be a spare room, or a space outside that you love under your favourite tree or it might be the place you call home on your yoga mat beside your bed. Anywhere works as long as it feels comfortable and quiet to you. Step two is creating / finding this space.


Step 2. Create / find your ‘You Time’ space

Now we are clear on the ‘when’ and the ‘where’ we want to now know the ‘what’ and the ‘how’

A heart meditation will take us straight from our heads and into our hearts. This tool is a great way to get you connected to yourself almost instantly. The heart sends far more information to the head then the head does to the heart. We are only just coming to understand the depth of the heart and its powerful wisdom. If we could learn to feel our way through life instead of always trying to understand it intellectually, i do believe we would be shocked at how different our experience in life would be.


If you can start your day off connected to yourself and all things living through your heart space you will experience your whole day differently with far more clarity and with purpose.

This meditation allows us time to check in with what is happening inside us, what it is that we need and the understanding on how we can provide that to ourselves. In other words where we need to send love and how we can give it to ourselves so we can be more present and fruitful in our every interaction in life.

Through this heart meditation there are guided questions that allow us to discover these answers. Step three ‘Heart meditation’.

Step 3. Heart Meditation

Get yourself comfortable, sitting with your spine tall as the light pulls the crown of your head up towards the sky and your bottom is rooted firmly on the earth. Close your eyes. Breathing in 5 deep breaths (inhaling a bright sun from above your head and down your spine to your feet) and (exhaling the bright sun from your feet up your spine and back above the head)


Now just rest and place both hands on your heart. Keeping your eyes closed I want you to feel what comes up for you.


Ask your heart "how am i feeling right now?". Listen for the answers with your heart not your head, you will feel the answers. This may take some practise and thats perfectly fine.


Notice how the emotion/s make you feel inside your body (you might feel tension in your jaw, or pain in your back or an aching heart)


Ask your heart "what is it i need right in this moment to feel loved and cherished?"


Ask your heart "what can i do today to give this to myself?"


Breathing in your answers and sit with them. Notice how it feels to listen to your heart and what is happening inside there. What ever emotions come up whether they are tears of happiness, joy, anger, sadness, fear or exhaustion just sit with them, don't ever judge these emotions, they all feel different but they are all as equally important as the other.


Just let whatever emotions come up be there don't resist or push them away. This is your time right now to allow all things to be heard, felt, and understood with great compassion no matter how ugly they may seem to you. Just like a scared child or an angry child, or a sad child... each of these children all deserve to be heard and when we stop resisting and judging them and take the time to listen they all have a profound message for us and the child is able to love and let love in again.


In this self-love heart meditation it's all about total self-support and self-compassion and non judgement.


Say out loud these words whilst you still have your hands on your heart and your eyes closed.

"I feel (xyz) right now, and thats ok"

"I honour the thoughts that come up that say negative things that make me feel like crap"

"I need (xyz) to feel loved and cherished and i promise myself that i will give this to myself today"


"I am truly grateful for another day, as my heart opens i release all resistance to expressing my creativity fully. My heart is now open and ready for my day"


Now breathing in and letting go of a full exhale, just let it all out making a long aaaagh sound from the back of your throat, really let it all go.


When you are ready to open your eyes, write down in your notebook or diary what answers came up for you and what your promise was to yourself.


Step 4. Write down your answers & any other important messages that may have come up for you

The beautiful part is that every morning will be different, your heart will show where you need to send love and maybe where you need to spend less time. Sometimes your heart will have lots to say and other times it won't and sometimes it may be things that are hard to hear and other times it's things that make you feel good. When it's something that feels good thats when you MUST celebrate and just enjoy those wonderful feelings in your body and bath in them. Our routines are busy in todays world and with this small half an hour dedicated to total self-love and watering your own flower roots allows time for clarity on where you are, where you want to be, where your focus is, what your purpose is, and what your heart needs to communicate to you.


Getting into this routine also sends a huge self-love and self-supporting message to yourself which says that you are priority and worthy of this time. It creates a relationship of worth between you and your heart. This is a truly life changing experience and one that is worth the investment.


You are enough and you are worthy and this value will start to reflect in your everyday life and you will want to scream it to everyone that you meet.
